The sub-soundboard is made out of composite materials superposed with tonewood (either Sitka Spruce or Red Cedar for most of the instruments) for the upper part - A kind of double top made into one. In the case of Alma it is: Cocobolo for the outer layer, Mahogany for the middle layer, and Indian Rosewood for the interior layer.
