Stephen Goss
Stephen writes music that draws freely on a number of styles and genres. These eclectic influences result in the unexpected juxtapositions that characterise much of his work. In April 2005, Stephen's piece The Garden of Cosmic Speculation was featured on The South Bank Show on ITV1. His music has been also featured on Radio 3's In Tune and has been broadcast on BBC2, GMTV, Classic FM and BBC Radio 2 and Radio 4 in the UK and various radio and TV stations overseas. Stephen's music has been performed throughout Europe, America, the Middle East, South East Asia, South Africa, India and Australia, and is published in Germany, the USA and the UK. Many of his pieces have been recorded on the Decca, Conifer Classics, Carlton Classics, GSP, quartz music, BGS, Cadenza, BMG and Hallmark labels. Recent commissions have come from The Yehudi Menuhin School, William Bennett, Gemini, Leonid Gorokhov and Jane Manning. As a guitarist, Stephen Goss has worked with many of today's leading composers on their solo guitar music; these include Takemitsu, Henze and Elliott Carter. He has played concertos with the Bournemouth Sinfonietta, the English Sinfonia and other leading orchestras. He is currently senior lecturer in composition at the University of Surrey, UK.
