Peter Constant

Peter was "most outstanding graduate" of the Canberra School of Music and is a Master's graduate of Yale University. He received the prestigious Harkness Fellowship, is a Fellow of Trinity College of Music, London and a multiple winner in the Australian Guitar Competition. From 1993-98 Peter was full-time lecturer in guitar at the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne. His many chamber collaborations have ranged from a recital with renowned baroque violinist Jaap Schroeder to Henze's El Cimarron. Collaboration with innumerable composers and instrumentalists has long been a feature of his work. As a founding member of the quartet Guitar Trek , Peter helped pioneer the "guitar family" concept, touring extesively with the group for some 11 years. An avid enthusiast for (large) guitar ensembles, Peter accepted an invitation to conduct the European Youth Guitar Ensemble - 14 top talents from 8 countries - for their 2001 season. Peter's solo CD 'A Sympathetic Resonance' was reviewed by Soundboard magazine as "displaying a comprehensive palette of expression and colour…an effective interpreter".
