Instruments Taught
Classical Guitar, Keyboard, Voice,I was a latecomer to the classical guitar, beginning instead with piano at age 5 in the States. I began teaching myself chords and some classical pieces on the guitar at 16, and began having lessons only after starting to teach, in order to stay one step ahead of my pupils! In the meantime I was also having singing lessons and singing semi-professionally in a harmony group called English Tapestry. Later I founded the Silkworm Guitar Network with my then partner, Ellen Lee. My lessons with John Hunt (a colourful character with a superb technique and tone, pupil of William Gomez) continued for many years, and I finally got my Guildhall Grade 8 at 34 (with Honours, I'm pleased to say). I also began singing self-accompanied art songs, and in 1998 recorded a CD called 'Songs Through the Centuries'.
